Fall Workshops
PhD Career Paths – October 15
Increase your awareness of other career paths and those within academia. This workshop is primarily designed for PhD students and post-doctoral students.
Faculty Innovators – October 29
This workshop is for early-career faculty, late-stage PhD students and post-doctoral students headed into academia.
Nuts and Bolts of Commercialization – November 12
This workshop is for faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and others. who are considering forming a company in the near or medium term.
Learning Objectives for the Workshops
- Encourage researchers to think about the impact of their work beyond the publication.
- Provide tools for researchers to shape their research to be more use-inspired and impactful.
- Demystify idea generation by learning to think like a designer (research, ideation, quick prototyping, and testing)
- Expand PhD Candidates’ awareness of the different career paths in multiple contexts: academia, industry, government, consulting, etc.
- Provide a range of options for faculty to engage in innovation and commercialization of their inventions by highlighting several role models.
- Help innovators understand the basic legal, administrative, and organizational tasks needed to launch a business.
All sessions will occur virtually on Zoom, Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00 PM ET. You can register for whichever workshops interest you.
